SALINAS, Calif. --

Three inmates who escaped Monterey County Jail on Thursday were captured within 30 minutes of fleeing the jail's exercise yard.

Angel Ocampo, 18, Ezequiel Gonzales, 32, and Jorge Rico, 28, escaped at about 9:45 a.m. All three inmates were captured by 10:15 a.m.

According to the sheriff's department, the inmates escaped from the exercise yard. A deputy spotted the men fleeing and sounded an alarm.

One of the inmates was apprehended by Natividad Hospital, one was found in a creek bed in Natividad Creek Park and the other would found by a building on Laurel Drive.

Rico was reportedly shot in the face with a Taser as he fled from deputies.

Ocampo was being held on charges of homicide, attempted homicide, firing into an occupied vehicle and street terrorism. Rico was held on a charge of kidnapping and Gonzales was being held on three counts of attempted homicide, deputies said.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has a protocol in place where a review board will analyze the details of the escape and how it impacts policies, procedures and possible future preventive measures.

The last forced escape from the county jail was in 1995.
